Dr. M.C Mohamed Maheez entered the institute of indigenous medicine, the University of Colombo in 1979 as an undergraduate and then joined the institute of indigenous medicine as an academic after obtaining second class honor for his first degree. He has done his post graduate studies at Nizamia Tibbi Collage, University of Health sciences and obtained MD in Moalejat (Clinical medicine) in 1996. He is senior lecturer Gr.1 in Unani Medicine, Institute of Indigenous medicine, University of Colombo and consultant physician in National Ayurvedic Teaching Hospital, Sri Lanka. He held the post of Head of Unani Section, 3 consecutive sessions. Currently chairman, specialty board -Moalejat (clinical medicine) in Post Graduate Institute of Indigenous Medicine. He has delivered many guest lectures and key note speeches in national and international forums. Since he is the 1st MD (Moalijath) holder from India, he was compelled to shoulder the burdens in the developments of Unani system for more than one decade in Institute of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. He served as a member of most of the statutory bodies under Ayurveda act 1961. He is Coordinator of Quality Assurance Cell of Institute of Indigenous Medicine. Also a Management Committee member of Center for Quality Assurance, Sub Committee of Senate Council and Member of Institutional Review Committee of University of Colombo. He served as a member of standing committee on indigenous medicine – University grant commission. He is a program reviewer – Quality Assurance Council – UGC
