BIOGRAPHY

Dr. (Mrs) MSS. Fawmiya entered the Institute of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo in 1983 as an undergraduate and holds First Class Honors for her first degree. In 1991 she was appointed as a Medical Officer at the National Teaching Hospital of Ayurveda. In 1993 she started her career as an Academic at the IIM.

 

Dr. MSS. Fawmiya received her postgraduate qualifications such as MPhil in General Medicine/ Unani from University of Colombo and

PG Diploma in Toxicology from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo. Presently reading her PhD at the University of Peradeniya.

 

During Dr. MSS. Fawmiya’s tenure in the Institute of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo she was appointed to various Academic as well as Administrative positions. She has served as the Head of the Unani Section, Head of the Departments of Allied Sciences and Tahaffuzi wa Samaji Tibb and as a Student Counselor.
