Professor M.U.Z.N.Farzana graduated from Institute of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo and obtained second class upper division for her first degree. Professor Farzana received her postgraduate qualifications: MSc in Plant Cell and Tissue Culture from the University of Colombo with merit pass; MS degree in Amraz e Niswan va Qabalat (Gynecology and Obstetrics-Unani) from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, National Institute of Unani Medicine, Bengaluru, India, and presently perusing PhD at Faculty of Graduate Studies from the University of Colombo. She serves the Institute of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo as a Professor in the Unit of Amraz e Niswan va Qabalat (Gynecology and Obstetrics-Unani) at present.
During Professor Farzana’s tenure in the Institute of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo, she was appointed to various Academic as well as Administrative positions. She has served as the student counselor, Coordinator of the Post Graduate Diploma in Unani Medicine, Institute of Indigenous Medicine, Coordinator of Certificate Course in Hijamah (Cupping) and Irsal e Aalaq (Leech) Therapy, Institute of Indigenous Medicine, Head of Amraz e Niswan va Qabalat (Gynecology and Obstetrics-Unani), Head of Department of Kulliyat (Basic Principles –Unani). Further she was the Chairperson of the project procurement sub -committee of English /HETC.
Professor Farzana has been conducted many public awareness programmes and given many radio programme speech related to her medical field. And during her tenure she organized National symposium, awareness progrmmes and public progrmme too.
Professor Farzana has been honored with Common Wealth Scholarship award by ICCR and had various positions and presented as guest lecturers internally and externally as well as presented and participated conferences and symposia both nationally and internationally.
Presently, Professor Farzana is a Chairperson of MD study Board of Amraz e Niswan va Qabalat (Gynecology and Obstetrics-Unani)
