Dr. R.Erandie Ediriweera De Silva is the recipient of the Gold Medal for the best PGIM (Post Graduate Institute of Medicine, Sri Lanka) student of the year 2015 (MD Category) following completing MD (Family Medicine) from the Postgraduate Institute of Medicine, University of Colombo in 2015.

She was accredited as a teacher in Higher education by the Staff and Education Development Association (SEDA) in the United Kingdom in 2008, following joining the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo as a Lecturer in 2007. She was attached to the Primary Care Research Centre, Faculty of Medical and Human Sciences, University of Manchester, UK ( 2012-2013). She is also a Honarary Research Fellow, School of Primary, Community & Social Care, Keele University, UK (2018 – 2021). She has been involved in several research projects, including the PRIMAeds project, Polypharmacy in chronic diseases: Reduction of Inappropriate Medication and Adverse drug events in elderly populations (PRIMAeds project), which was funded by the European Union, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome study (METRIC) ME Education, Training & Resources in Primary Care, was a study funded by the National Institute for Health Research, UK, and a research project titled INCLUDE which is a research on integrating and improving care for patients with inflammatory rheumatological disorders in the community: A randomised controlled trial. She has been involved in research, including qualitative research.

She has won several research awards, including the best Family Medicine Research Paper at the WONCA (SAR), International Conference (2016), and awarded the best research paper at the Annual Academic Sessions of the Sri Lanka Association of Geriatric Medicine. She has been a resource person and invited speaker at several forums, including a Speaker and Resource person at the 18th World Organisation of Family Doctors – Asia Pacific Conference (2011) Philippines, and was awarded a Travel grant. She was also the Secretary scientific Committee, WONCA (SAR) International conference and member steering committee, WONCA South Asia Regional Conference, Colombo, Sri Lanka. Dr.R.Erandie Ediriweera De Silva is a Member of the Editorial Board of the Ceylon Journal of Medical Science (2016 – to date), Member of the Editorial Board.  She has several publications in peer reviewed indexed journals. She has trained and supervised many junior researchers at undergraduate level.

Her research interests include Care of the Elderly, Non-Communicable Diseases, Primary care and Medical Education.
